Join in these two workshops to get you motivated and excited!!
Come to this workshop with Deborah Nicol at the McMillan Art Centre in Parksville.
10am to 3pm with an art demo, hands on instruction and an inspiring critique at the end.
Workshops are $100 each.
Deborah Nicol is an abstract artist, working primarily in Acrylics. Deb started her artistic endeavors with pencil portraits, quickly moving into Oil Pastels and Oils and expanding into landscapes and paintings of children. The art slowed as her family grew but she continued with pencil sketches of many subjects. In recent years she has moved into Acrylics and finding her true passion in Abstract venues.? She uses many colors that are emotive of the sea, the shore and the woods. She is influenced by her surroundings, family and friends. The thoughts and feeling of the artist appear in the work and hope to strike a chord with the viewer. Deborah’s work has been on display at the Ladysmith Art Gallery, The McMillan Centre, The Old School House and the Comox Airport.
Shapes, shapes and more shapes ? May 28
In this workshop we will focus our efforts on incorporating shapes and how that affects the outcome!
Supplies to bring
Easel if you have one. The MAC has an assortment of table easels and some stand up easels as well, although there may not have enough or one you like.
Your paints and brushes and a canvas. Try and bring a canvas that allows you room to play around!
What to expect
There will be lots of painting of course. You are free to ask questions or look for guidance at any point throughout the day. We will start the day with a short talk of each day?s goals and what we hope to accomplish.? We will put into practise what we have learned and paint throughout the day. Questions are welcome and guidance where you might want it. We break for lunch around 12 to 1 pm, so bring something to fill that gap and keep up your energy. There are several fast food places that you can slip out to if you prefer. At the close of the day, around 2:30 to 3:00 pm we will reconvene for a wrap up and critique of the day.
Washrooms are close and available for our use.

Covid restrictions will be in place as per the Macmillan Gallery protocols at the time of the workshops. We will wear our masks and maintain distance throughout the day. If your workshop has to be cancelled due to restrictions, a full refund will be in effect.
