SUMMARY:Portraiture in Oils and Acrylics
DESCRIPTION:Do you have some basic skills in drawing faces and some experience with oils or acrylics? This class will help you take the next step towards confidence with creating portraits using photographic reference. We’ll review the basics like proportions\, composition\, lighting\, etc. and then explore more in-depth practice such as underpainting\, skin tones\, likeness and personal style. I’ll share what tricks I have found useful over the years and we’ll also have a look at how a few of the Masters accomplished their pieces. DESCRIPTION:This afternoon workshop will connect you with the joy of creating for the sake of exploration\, humour\, and collaboration. Primarily utilizing modelling and assemblage\, we will cultivate a sense of possibility\, adventure and imagination. \nCreating with unexpected materials can lower our inhibitions\, giving us the playful experience of creating with curiosity and openness to the unexpected…just for the pleasure of it! \nUnsculpted is not about learning to sculpt with skilled technical expertise; it will expand your creativity though\, just not in the ways you might expect! \nThe activities in Unsculpted are intended to guide you back to your creative heart. The act of (art) creation can get so twisted up in our judgments of what constitutes ‘good’ that we completely lose touch with the joy of creating for the sake of exploration and playfulness. \n​This one-session workshop runs from 1 to 4pm with a mid-way break. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks. The $105 workshop fee includes GST and all materials supplied. Bring a friend discount of $25 each when 2 people sign up at the same time. DESCRIPTION:Two days of songwriting\, co-writing\, and craft — small group\, all levels welcome. \nDay One starts with the fundamentals: what makes a song a song\, where ideas come from\, and how to get something started. You’ll write\, share\, and spend the afternoon in a deeper session with J. Plank and Lindi Ortega — foundations track or craft and story track\, depending on where you’re at. \nDay Two brings the songs to life. Many if not all participants will get to work through their song with a live band (we’ll do our best to get to everyone!) — The One Spot Ramblers — and if something special happens\, there may be an invitation to perform at the Friday night Ramble Fest show. \nBring your notebook\, your instrument if you have one\, and your ears. Just show up with an open mind\, ready to create!
