SUMMARY:Golden Hour Tour: Kele Fleming and Matthew Presidente
DESCRIPTION:Vancouver-based artist Matthew Presidente blends piano-driven songwriting with dark electronic textures\, cinematic synths\, and visceral pop hooks. His live shows balance intimacy and pulse\, creating something both cathartic and communal. Praised by Xtra Magazine as “one of the best singer/songwriters in our LGBT scene\,” He’s been a standout on Pride stages across BC and Alberta. \n\nKele Fleming is the distinct love child of Linda Perhacs and Ani DiFranco. She’s 70’s psychedelic\, feministic\, intelligent – quoting Darwin and Foucault mid song. Kele’s dynamic vocals range from choir girl naivete to raging Sinead O’Connor. Profound lyrics that are like calls to action\, angry at humanity’s sad state of affairs. \nTogether\, Kele and Matthew are a powerhouse duo singing their hearts out for love and the betterment of our world. July 2026 will see them on the road together again on their ‘Golden Hour Tour.’ \nJoin them at Artful : The Gallery on July 11\, 7pm. $15 or pwyc at the door.

SUMMARY:Summer Ramble Festival
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Highway 19 Concerts and hosted by J. Plank\, the summer festival edition of Ramble at the Merville Hall features two summer nights of music collaboration and community. Inspired by the late\, great Levon Helm’s legendary Midnight Ramble in Woodstock\, NY\, each Ramble shines a spotlight on the songs of emerging and established regional talents and guest headliners\, all backed by J. Plank and his stellar Vancouver Island house band. \nFriday:\nLindi Ortega – guitar\, vocals & songs\nG. Lee Worden – guitars\, keys\, vocals & songs\nJ. Plank – musical director\, host\, guitars & vocals\nChris Mason – bass\, vocals\nDallas Carrie – drums\, vocals\nPlus guests from the first Ramble songwriting workshop \nSaturday:\nBrandon Isaak – guitars\, vocals & songs\nChristy Vanden – guitars\, vocals & songs\nJ. Plank – musical director\, host\, guitars & vocals\nG. Lee Worden – guitars\, keys\, vocals\nChris Mason – bass\, vocals\nDallas Carrie – drums\, vocals \nPlank (Jeff Plankenhorn) is a highly respected blues and roots musician known for his skill as a slide guitarist\, songwriter\, and vocalist\, both as a solo artist and as a sought-after session musician. After years in the Austin music scene\, Plank calls Campbell River home while he continues to tour across the continent and beyond. Lee Worden\, Chris Mason\, and Dallas Carrie round out the house band of Island aces. \nRoots-noir artist Lindi Ortega\, a two-time Canadian Country Music Award-winning singer-songwriter\, has long captivated audiences with her signature vibrato\, magnetic stage presence\, and hauntingly soulful voice. Renowned for her ability to blend the ethereal with the evocative\, Ortega’s artistry transcends genre labels\, weaving stories that linger long after the last note fades. Her 2024 album From the Ether marked a poignant return to music following a prolonged hiatus brought on by vocal struggles\, the profound loss of her father\, and the dissolution of her nearly five-year marriage. These deeply personal challenges became the crucible for her artistic resurgence\, reigniting her passion for songwriting and performance. The album pushes the boundaries of traditional roots music\, embracing a haunting\, atmospheric quality that is distinctly Ortega’s own. Esoteric yet deeply relatable\, enigmatic yet undeniably raw\, Ortega is a master storyteller who defies convention. Whether gracing the hallowed stage of the Grand Ole Opry or commanding stadiums alongside Chris Stapleton\, hers is a voice that you don’t want to miss. \nBrandon Isaak takes a dash of Taj Mahal\, a sprinkle of B.B. King and a few drops of Lighting Hopkins\, stirs it up\, and simmers on low. This Yukon-born\, Island-based songster performs a mixture of thoughtful\, humorous\, spiritual and catchy memorable songs; delivered with world class guitar\, harmonica and vocals. Isaak has honed his craft over the past 37 years and it shows every night. Formerly guitarist and singer for the much loved Vancouver band the Twisters\, and under the name Yukon Slim\, Isaak has come into his own as a self-titled solo artist praised for his lo-fi sound and commitment to the blues tradition. He has played in three continents and 8 country and picked up two Juno nominations\, a half dozen Western Canadian Music Award and Maple Blues Award nominations nominations each. His latest album Walkin With The Blues was recently won Canadian Blues Music Award for song of the year\, electric album of the year\, and guitarist of the year. \nChristy Vanden is a wickedly talented multi-instrumentalist in the Comox Valley and popular guitar teacher at Long & McQuade Music. Whether playing lead guitar with Brodie Dawson and She Could Be Trouble or Karen Lee Batten\, playing drums for Oktiv6 and Funkyard or the Cloud District\, as a member of party juggernaut Time Well Wasted\, or playing her own solo material at small stages around the region\, her understated skill and musicality always shines. \nLee Worden is a multi-instrumentalist and singer with over 4 decades of professional touring and studio experience. He is equally at home on guitar\, bass\, keyboards or drums. He has performed with Al Harlow\, Mike Reno\, Corb Lund\, Ryan McMahon\, Tom Russell\, Fernando Verela\, Kim Wilson and Bobby Rush\, was a member of Sweeney Todd with Nick Gilder and from 2008-2019 served as lead guitarist for the legendary Ian Tyson. \nThe Ramble is a family friendly\, licensed event.

Most shows are with the incredible SUNN O)))\nThe rock canon has many anti-heroes\, Black Mountain being the latest. In the past\, Can’s ‘Tago Mago’ established that the only rule in rock and roll is that there are no rules. Delinquent proto-metallers Black Sabbath demonstrated that you can make a lot from not that much. Now Black Mountain teach us that you don’t have to be afraid of the past to move bravely into the future.Black Mountain is a Canadian psychedelic rock band from Vancouver\, British Columbia. The band is composed of Stephen McBean\, Jeremy Schmidt\, Adam Bulgasem\, Amber Webber\, and Arjan Miranda. SUMMARY:ES:MO live in Campbell River
DESCRIPTION:ES:MO is Elizabeth Shepherd and Michael Occhipinti\, two imaginative genre-defying musicians who create music that is uniquely their own. ES:MO fuses a love of songwriting with the inventive musicianship they’re known for as perennial Juno Award nominees (19 JUNO nominations between the two!) and veterans of the Toronto music scene. \nMichael Occhipinti’s huge palette of sounds and versatile skills has made him one of Canada’s most admired guitarists. He leads jazz orchestras\, plays afro-pop\, R&B\, funk\, and Sicilian folk music\, and does it all with finesse\, curiosity\, and virtuosity. He’s played with Bruce Cockburn\, Bill Frisell\, Trey Anastasio\, Laila Biali\, Andrea Bocelli\, the Toronto Symphoni and many more. \nElizabeth Shepherd is a classically trained pianist who turned to jazz through her love of old-school hip-hop. She’s been hailed as “wholly unique and unclassifiable\,” a “jazz virtuoso with a pop sensibility” blaring the boundaries between jazz\, R&B\, pop and hip-hop. Her soulful and ethereal voice and keyboard work stunned listeners on ES:MO’s debut album The Weight of Hope\, which received a JUNO nomination in 2022. The album was built around the duo’s unique interpretations of songs by Stevie Wonder\, Bruce Cockburn\, Jackie Shane\, Nick Drake and others. \nThe second ES:MO album SUNSHINE IN MY BONES which comes out just before this tour is a celebration of the duo’s own compositions built on hours of jam sessions\, found sounds such as washing machines\, improvised voice and guitar loops\, and the magical connection Elizabeth and Michael have when they create music together. Their thoughtful songs explore everything from war crimes to cruise ship class warfare\, love among tulips\, and the need for human connection. On the recording they’re joined by guest drummers Larnell Lewis\, Jinu Isac\, Tony Ferraro\, and Marito Marques. For this west coast tour they’ll be joined by Tony Ferraro on drums and Derek Fillippo on bass.

SUMMARY:Spencer Krug w/ Elbow Kiss
DESCRIPTION:CVBGs Presents \nWolf Parade leader Spencer Krug celebrates solo album release at the CVCC \nSPENCER KRUG  \nwith special guests from Victoria \nELBOW KISS          & the Comox Valley’s         bathslut \nFriday May 15\, 2026      6:30 PM       Comox Valley Curling Centre    4835 Headquarters Road \n  \nSPENCER KRUG \nVictoria’s Spencer Krug is the co-frontperson of Wolf Parade\, leader of Sunset Rubdown & Moonface\, & writing member of Frog Eyes & Swan Lake. This special show is in celebration of Krug releasing his first solo album Same Fangs the very same day. First gaining attention in the mid 2000s as co-leader of Montreal’s rock’n’roll Wolf Parade\, then soon after as the voice and mind behind the chaotic Sunset Rubdown\, and equal member of indie supergroup Swan Lake (with Dan Bejar of Destroyer and Carey Mercer of Frog Eyes) Krug eventually used the now defunct Moonface as an outlet for his more experimental and sporadic solo material. And while he still plays with both \nWolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown\, there remains in him a need to express something less rock-oriented\, something quieter and more introverted. So\, returning to his first and favorite instrument\, the piano\, Krug has ventured back into his own fantastic world of pseudo-classical balladeering; poetic lyricism laced with twisted pop sensibility and jazz mimicry. Using this template\, he now releases solo work on his own label\, Pronounced Kroog\, and tours a variety of new and old material as Spencer Krug. \nAfter these solo shows\, Wolf Parade will be touring festivals and larger venues. There is substantial resurgence of interest since December\, when Wolf Parade’s song “I’ll Believe in Anything” (written by Spencer Krug) went viral for its use in an episode of the same name of the Crave TV hockey romance Heated Rivalry. The episode\, the fifth of season one of the series\, aired on December 19\, 2025\, and by December 27\, plays on Spotify increased by 2658%. The song’s continued success resulted in it peaking at number four on Billboard’s Alternative Digital Song Sales chart and at number seven on Billboard’s Rock Digital Song Sales. \nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spencer_Krug \nhttps://www.instagram.com/krugspencer \nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_Parade \nhttps://firstdatetouring.com/spencer-krug \nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunset_Rubdown \n  \nELBOW KISS \nFrom Victoria. SUMMARY:Just in Time Choirs 20th Anniversary Spring Concert 2026 part 2 " Directors Cut" - Virtual Event
DESCRIPTION:As part of their milestone 20th Anniversary Season\, the Just in Time Choirs continue the celebration with their spring concert\, “Director’s Cut – 20th Anniversary Highlights.”\n\nBe a part of this commemorative musical extravaganza at the Sid Williams Theatre\, where there will be performances on Saturday April 25th in the evening and Sunday April 26th in the afternoon.\n\nFor two decades\, the Just in Time Choirs have been bringing community together through the power of song — sharing music\, connection\, and unforgettable performances. This special spring concert marks Part 2 of their anniversary concert series\, featuring personal favourites chosen by Musical Director\, Wendy Nixon Stothert.\n\nThe organization consists of three ensembles: Unplugged (everyone welcome)\, and the smaller auditioned groups\, the Jems (treble) and Vocal Minority (mixed). They will be joined by skilled musical collaborators: Sean Mooney on piano\, Beau Stocker on drums\, Steve Wallace on bass\, and Rachel Cooper on clarinet and sax.\n\nThese renowned contemporary choirs are known for their versatility; their performances cover a wide spectrum of musical styles from jazz\, ballads\, folk\, swing\, soul\, and contemporary pop to classic rock. Drawing from standout moments across the past twenty years\, Director’s Cut showcases songs that have shaped the choir’s musical journey — audience favourites\, meaningful repertoire\, and highlights that reflect the growth and spirit of the choir family.\n\nJust in Time’s founder and Music Director\, Wendy Nixon Stothert is excited to continue the celebration. “It has made me really happy to have a reason to dig into the archives and return to some of my favourite songs\, some from quite far back!” says Nixon Stothert. “Many of these songs are reminiscent of very special performance moments we’ve had over these past 20 years. For example\, I chose Stand By Me because I remember when 40 of us travelled to Cuba in 2014 and we sang it deep in a cave. Bumblebee is on the setlist because it reminds me of when my daughter sang the song with the Jems when she was 10 years old. Vocal Minority recorded a video version of Take On Me during the pandemic when we couldn’t sing in person together and singing it again now reminds me of the perseverance and dedication of the singers during those tough times. All of these magical moments\, and many more\, form a treasure trove that I love to reflect upon.”\n\nThe setlist also includes Coco Love Alcorn’s soulful “Revolution”\, jazz standard “Cheek to Cheek”\, an acapella version of Ah-Ha’s 80s hit “Take on Me”\, “Sir Duke” by the incomparable Stevie Wonder and “Sway” a la Michael Buble. To name just a few! The concert finale brings all three choirs together to perform Led Zeppelin’s epic classic “Stairway to Heaven” and\, fittingly\, the jazz standard “Just in Time”.\n\nThis concert caps a year-long celebration honouring 20 years of music and community. Join the Just in Time Choirs as they look back on cherished memories while celebrating the vibrant energy that continues to inspire singers and audiences alike.\n\nTickets are $33.40 (incl fees) for adults\, $15 for children 12 & under\, plus fees. There is also a live stream option for $33.40 per household\, and we are again offering a limited number of Community Supported Tickets at $15 for those under financial constraint.\n\nTickets available in person\, by phone\, and online at sidwilliamstheatre.com. Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets early as performances regularly sell out.

SUMMARY:Ramble at the Big Yellow Hall
DESCRIPTION:The third installment of the Ramble presented by Highway 19 Concerts and hosted by J. Plank (Jeff Plankenhorn).\n\nInspired by the late\, great Levon Helm’s legendary Midnight Ramble in Woodstock\, NY\, each Ramble shines a spotlight on three songwriters from emerging and established local talents to show stopping guest headliners\, all backed by the One Spot Ramblers\, a stellar Vancouver Island house band led by Plank. The Ramble is all about building musical community\, and creating unique and unforgettable nights of song and music in our region.\n\nFeaturing:Paul Pigat – guitar\, vocals & songsSue Decker – guitars\, vocals & songsAJ Lontayao – guitar & vocalsMaya McCutcheon – vocalsJ. Plank – musical director\, host\, guitars and vocalsG. Lee Worden – guitars\, keys and vocalsRick May – bassDallas Carrie – drums\, vocals\n\nIn addition to leading his rockabilly powerhouse trio Cousin Harley\, Vancouver’s Paul Pigat has quietly spent a career creating sweet sounds for some of the best artists in the country. Over the years his distinctive guitar playing has graced albums and stages of none other than Jeff Beck\, Jackob Dylan\, Michael Kaeshammer\, Albert Lee\, James Burton\, Brian Setzer\, The Reverend Horton Heat\, Neko Case\, Jim Byrnes\, The Sojourners\, Carolyn Mark… and on and on! Blessed with a jazz man’s sheen\, a rockabilly heart and a hobo’s soul\, there aren’t many genres of music that don’t pull at Pigat’s wayfaring imagination like a magnet. In many ways\, it’s a mystery why Paul Pigat isn’t a household name yet. Maybe he’d be a lot easier to pin down if he wasn’t so darn good at so many different things.\n\nVictoria singer-songwriter Sue Decker’s rich and warm voice\, distinctive slide guitar playing\, and authentic songwriting make for a powerful combination. Ever since learning to play her first guitar chords in a bluegrass jam at the age of thirty-five\, Sue has been discovering her truth in song. In 2024 she released her second album “Keeping Time” with producer Steve Dawson which drew comparisons to Ry Cooder and Lucinda Williams.\n\nStill in their teens\, multi-instrumentalist AJ Lontayao and vocalist Maya McCutcheon have establishing themselves as tremendous talents to watch in the Campbell River music scene. On guitar and vocals\, Lontayao leads the rock band Exit 30\, winners of battle of the band accolades all over the Island. Both are regulars at Highway 19’s high school open mic nights and Georgia Strait Jazz Society jams\, they also perform as a duo and with their jazz quartet Mood Swings where McCutcheon’s Winehouse-esque pipes are on full display.\nJ. Plank (Jeff Plankenhorn) is a highly respected musician known for his skill as a slide guitarist\, songwriter\, and vocalist\, both as a solo artist and as a sought-after session musician. After years in the Austin music scene\, Plank now calls Campbell River home while he continues to tour across North America and Europe. Lee Worden\, Rick May\, and Dallas Carrie round out the house band of Island aces.\nThe Ramble is a family friendly\, licensed event.\nKids are free with a paying adult\, teens pay what you can at the door.\nThe Ramble is supported by the Province of BC through the BC Arts Council and BC Live Performance Network.\n\nTickets: $30.00 Admission (+applicable taxes & fees) Kids are free with a paying adult\, teens pay what you can at the door.

SUMMARY:Friday I'm in Love! A Tribute to The Cure & other New Wave/Goth Favs
DESCRIPTION:12 Vancouver Island original musical acts each playing 12 minute sets of their interpretations of songs by The Cure and other New Wave/Goth/Dark wave/post-punk icons from that amazing 80s musical era. \nIncluding: Amy Muloin & the Alley Flowers\, Avro\, Bath Slut\, Night Mirrors\, Pink Plagues\, Pranatricks\, Rudeboy\, Short Circuit\, Soft Top\, Sonder\, Trip Sitters\, & Valley Edge Choir. \nPlus drag performances by Kara Nedge and Rat King! \nCVGBs returns with their third fundraiser tribute show. After sold out events honouring and re-imagining the music of first Nirvana in 2023\, then David Bowie in 2024\, this coming Friday the 13th of February takes a bit of a detour with the music of the Cure\, mixed with the anthems of other New Wave/Goth/Dark wave/post-punk icons from that amazing 80s musical era. The concept is the same: A dozen radically different Vancouver Island original acts will do twelve-minute sets with the intent to play songs they love\, but not necessarily as you might expect them to sound. These are not straight cover versions! The musical acts are all donating 100% of their performance funds towards Foundry Comox Valley\, a safe space where youth can get free\, confidential help and support\, without judgement. https://foundrybc.ca/centre/comox-valley/

In later years\, her music took on elements of light psychedelia and chamber pop\, especially on 2014’s highly touted standout Pink City (shortlisted for the Polaris Prize for best album made in Canada). Castle introduced a fuller sound with country accents on 2018’s Angels of Death\, then shifted gears into a spare\, psychedelic folk-inspired approach for 2020’s Monarch Season. Her new album Camelot furthers her ambitious explorations into indie country folk\, and received a massive 8 score from the influential Pitchfork. The first single Blowing Kisses was featured prominently in season three of the hit show The Bear. Jennifer will be touring with Destroyer this fall\, in preparation she is playing a series of intimate BC concerts. SUMMARY:Just in Time Choirs Spring 2025 Concert "New Orleans"
DESCRIPTION:Just in Time Choirs present “New Orleans”\, their Spring Concert at the Sid Williams Theatre in Courtenay at 7:00 pm on Saturday April 26th.   \nJoin us in celebrating the fabulous\, diverse music of this vibrant and iconic city\, the city that gave us Louis Armstrong\, Harry Connick Jr.\, Jon Batiste and John Boutte to name just a few. The songs are legendary. The choirs will be covering much loved tunes like “Iko Iko” by Dr John\, Hank Williams’ “Jambalaya”\, the trifecta of “Sweet”\, “Freedom”\, and “It’s All Right” by Jon Batiste\, the cherished “Mr Bojangles” by Jerry Jeff Walker\, and a reprise of a choir favourite\, “Proud Mary”. And of course\, a New Orleans set list would not be complete without Harry Connick Jr’s “It Had to be You” and “What a Wonderful World” by the master\, Louis Armstrong. \n“The music borne of the vibrant multicultural hub of New Orleans has heavily influenced modern music genres such as jazz\, blues\, R’n’B\, and gospel\,” says Wendy Nixon Stothert\, Just in Time’s founder and choral conductor. “With 40 of us from Just in Time having travelled to NOLA during March Break\, we’ve gleaned a deeper understanding and appreciation of the musical legacy of New Orleans and we’re looking forward to sharing that with our audience.” \nNow in their 20th year\, the thriving Just in Time Choirs organization comprises three ensembles: Unplugged (everyone welcome)\, and the smaller auditioned groups\, the Jems and Vocal Minority. These renowned local contemporary choirs will be joined by talented musical collaborators: Sean Mooney on piano\, Britt Bowman on bass\, Beau Stocker on drums\, and special guest\, Rachel Cooper on clarinet and saxophone. The infectious joy that all three choirs project in their presentations is uplifting and entertaining and has the audience tapping their feet and singing along. \nTickets are $28.00 for adults\, $15.00 for children 12 & under (including fees). SUMMARY:Bob Log III
DESCRIPTION:Bob Log III is a one man band slide guitar blues punk party. A perverse product of the Arizona desert\, Bob Log III has been diligently travelling the globe since 1996\, showcasing his incomparable talents and developing a devoted following along the way. A whirlwind of dexterous limbs and digits\, this super star sonic showman has to be seen to be believed. \nClad in his cannonball man\, extra tight jumpsuit and signature motorcycle helmet with telephone/microphone attached\, Bob Log III unfailingly sweats up a river while kicking on a kick drum\, stomping his homemade foot cymbal and playing slide on an old arch top guitar. Bob Log on being a one man band: “Yeah\, who needs a rhythm section? They say drummers are crazy\, guitar players are idiots and singers are assholes. And I gotta be all of ‘em.” His endless pursuit for musical mayhem and a downright party has seen his unique talents utilized for children’s birthday parties\, obscure beer barns\, mammoth music festivals and everything in between. \nBob Log explains: “It’s pretty simple: I take a guitar and turn it into a party. There’s a lot of ways to do that\, and I’ve figured out most of ‘em! Having fun with my guitar is the ultimate goal in every song. Then I add some drums to it. With my drumming it’s electronic beats\, but not a whole song programmed\, so it can change at any time. Then I also play real drums on top of that. I’m trying to sound like two drummers\, and one of my drummers is good and the one of my drummers is terrible and they absolutely hate each other! And I finger-pick on top of that and sing into a telephone in my helmet attached to my head. The basic idea is I’m doing this fun thing with my guitar and making it as fun as possible until people spill their drinks and someone loses a shoe. If there’s one shoe on the ground\, and it’s totally wet because of the puddles of spilled drinks\, then I‘ve done my job right.” \nYet\, beyond the crazy show and mesmerizing visuals\, lies the true reason for Bob Log’s international cult status and superhero adoration. It is quite simply the guitar playing – finger picked lightning\, sliding up and down\, stopping when it wants to\, then starting again when it feels like it\, all in a way that makes people move uncontrollably\, smile and reel. \nhttps://www.boblog111.com/ \nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Log_III \nhttps://www.facebook.com/boblog111/ \nhttps://boblogiii.bandcamp.com/track/consuela-did-it \nOpening the show will be Caveman & The Banshee\, a kozmik atomic punk duo from Nanaimo BC Canada guaranteed to melt your brain. \nhttps://cavemanandthebanshee.bandcamp.com/ \nhttps://www.instagram.com/cavemanandthebanshee/

SUMMARY:CVGBs New Year's Dance Party w/ Drama Queen\, Devours\, & Avro
DESCRIPTION:Local music and art cooperative CVGBs is proudly presenting it’s first ever New Year’s event\, an inclusive dance party featuring three diverse live acts & DJs. Co-headlining will be two acts that have caused multiple long line-ups to see them play at Cumberland’s Woodstove Festival: Vancouver’s Devours\, and Salt Spring Island’s Drama Queen. Opening the show will be a solo set from Denman Island’s Avro.\n\nDrama Queen\, is the lush\, nostalgic\, bejewelled synth-pop band that your pelvis never knew it needed. Reminiscent of Heroes-era Bowie and Kate Bush\, their music will confuse\, delight and alight your feelings and your senses. Give in to the emotional pop-star paradise soundtrack that is Drama Queen. Drama Queen is a synth-wave band\, and the latest invocation from Knick Tomlinson formerly of “Superfeather.” The group consists of Knick on Synthesizer\, Pierre Vincent Forgues on Synthesizers\, Harley Dunn on bass guitar and Ben Frey on Drums. Effortlessly channeling the essence of the past while crafting a sound distinctly their own\, Drama Queen weaves a tapestry of neon melodies and pulsating rhythms. Across four acclaimed underground albums\, including the recent Polaris Prize-longlisted Homecoming Queen\, Devours has written confessional and confrontational electronic music about masculinity\, body image\, gay politics\, and inner-city queer existence. They have toured Canada and the US\, received coverage from Vice\, CBC\, Exclaim\, and the Globe and Mail\, and have performed at festivals such as SXSW\, Treefort Music Fest\, Up Here Festival\, Purple City\, Vancouver Jazz Fest\, and more. SUMMARY:David Braid - Composer. Improviser. Pianist.
DESCRIPTION:Acclaimed Canadian composer\, improviser and jazz pianist David Braid is visiting Vancouver Island in December 2024 following his tour in Denmark\, Poland and the UK. It is our good fortune that he can join us in the Salon to perform selections from his own compositions for solo piano\, as heard on some of his Juno award-winning recordings. \n\nCombining harmonic intricacies fundamental to European classical music and the spontaneity of American jazz\, Braid’s original music engages audiences with melodic lyricism and rhythmic pulses that do not conform neatly to any one musical genre. For lovers of jazz and the piano\, and for folks who like to be adventurous in their musical taste\, do not miss this performance!
