All concert selections were voted in by choir members from among hundreds of songs that have been performed over the past two decades. Two Fall Concerts will be performed at the Sid Williams Theatre: Saturday November 29th at 7:00 and a matinee\, Sunday November 30th at 2:00. \nIn the spring\, they’ll be hosting their second concert\, “Part 2: Director’s Choice” with favourite songs chosen by choir director\, Wendy Nixon Stothert. Come be a part of a year-long celebration of 20 years of music and community.  \nThe Just in Time Choirs consist of three ensembles: Unplugged (everyone welcome)\, and the smaller auditioned groups\, the Jems (treble) and Vocal Minority (mixed). They will be joined by skilled musical collaborators: Sean Mooney on piano\, Beau Stocker on drums\, Steve Wallace on bass\, and Jeff Drummond on guitar.  \nThese renowned contemporary choirs are known for their versatility; their performances cover a wide spectrum of musical styles from jazz\, ballads\, folk\, swing\, soul\, and contemporary pop to classic rock. You’ll hear Queen’s enduring masterpiece\, “Bohemian Rhapsody”\, the foot stomping “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers\, “Chain of Fools” by the immortal Aretha Franklin\, Stevie Nicks’ haunting “Landslide”\, the Boss and the E-Street Band’s timeless “Dancing in the Dark” plus more from The Eagles\, Michael Buble\, Gladys Knight\, Eurythmics\, and many more! \nThe concert finale brings all three choirs together to sing Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and finally\, another Queen classic\, “Somebody to Love”. \nJust in Time’s founder and choral conductor\, Wendy Nixon Stothert is excited to celebrate! “The singers have chosen an excellent setlist for this first part of our 20th Anniversary highlights\,” says Nixon Stothert. “Back in 2005\, I never could’ve imagined the robust\, committed\, and wonderfully friendly community that the choirs have become. After sold out events honouring and re-imagining the music of first Nirvana in 2023\, then David Bowie in 2024\, this coming Friday the 13th of February takes a bit of a detour with the music of the Cure\, mixed with the anthems of other New Wave/Goth/Dark wave/post-punk icons from that amazing 80s musical era. The concept is the same: A dozen radically different Vancouver Island original acts will do twelve-minute sets with the intent to play songs they love\, but not necessarily as you might expect them to sound. The Ramble is all about building musical community\, and creating unique and unforgettable nights of song and music in our region.\n\nFeaturing:Paul Pigat – guitar\, vocals & songsSue Decker – guitars\, vocals & songsAJ Lontayao – guitar & vocalsMaya McCutcheon – vocalsJ. Lee Worden – guitars\, keys and vocalsRick May – bassDallas Carrie – drums\, vocals\n\nIn addition to leading his rockabilly powerhouse trio Cousin Harley\, Vancouver’s Paul Pigat has quietly spent a career creating sweet sounds for some of the best artists in the country. Over the years his distinctive guitar playing has graced albums and stages of none other than Jeff Beck\, Jackob Dylan\, Michael Kaeshammer\, Albert Lee\, James Burton\, Brian Setzer\, The Reverend Horton Heat\, Neko Case\, Jim Byrnes\, The Sojourners\, Carolyn Mark… and on and on! Blessed with a jazz man’s sheen\, a rockabilly heart and a hobo’s soul\, there aren’t many genres of music that don’t pull at Pigat’s wayfaring imagination like a magnet. In many ways\, it’s a mystery why Paul Pigat isn’t a household name yet. Maybe he’d be a lot easier to pin down if he wasn’t so darn good at so many different things.\n\nVictoria singer-songwriter Sue Decker’s rich and warm voice\, distinctive slide guitar playing\, and authentic songwriting make for a powerful combination. Ever since learning to play her first guitar chords in a bluegrass jam at the age of thirty-five\, Sue has been discovering her truth in song. In 2024 she released her second album “Keeping Time” with producer Steve Dawson which drew comparisons to Ry Cooder and Lucinda Williams.\n\nStill in their teens\, multi-instrumentalist AJ Lontayao and vocalist Maya McCutcheon have establishing themselves as tremendous talents to watch in the Campbell River music scene. On guitar and vocals\, Lontayao leads the rock band Exit 30\, winners of battle of the band accolades all over the Island. Both are regulars at Highway 19’s high school open mic nights and Georgia Strait Jazz Society jams\, they also perform as a duo and with their jazz quartet Mood Swings where McCutcheon’s Winehouse-esque pipes are on full display.\nJ. Plank (Jeff Plankenhorn) is a highly respected musician known for his skill as a slide guitarist\, songwriter\, and vocalist\, both as a solo artist and as a sought-after session musician. After years in the Austin music scene\, Plank now calls Campbell River home while he continues to tour across North America and Europe. We have been crossing our fingers she would be recovered for the originally scheduled March 13th concert\, but\, sadly\, it’s not to be.\n\nWe are crestfallen that we won’t be able to entertain you this Friday\, BUT **we have rescheduled the concert to Friday\, April 10th at 7:30 p.m. at Artful : The Gallery.**\n\nIf you can attend on the new date\, yay!\nIf you are unable to attend\, I will refund you via e-transfer.\nPlease let me know which option works for you. Harmonies are sophisticated. Instruments include a motley assemblage of ukuleles\, a washboard\, a toilet plunger\, a toy glockenspiel and baby tap shoes…just to name a few. \nThe ookoolaydeez made their debut at the 2025 Woodstove Festival in November\, followed by house concerts and an appearance at the Art is Love is Resistance fundraiser in Cumberland. \nDiana studied classical piano and has decades of experience as a theatre performer and director. Tara studied ukulele and guitar and is a prize-winning wearable art creator/performer. Both are poets and published authors. They started writing songs together in the autumn of 2024. \nIn addition to performing as the ookoolaydeez\, Tara and Diana also sing as part of The Happy Gang\, an ensemble of six fiddlers\, four vocalists\, a percussionist\, a guitarist and a bass player\, who play monthly concerts at several of the Comox Valley’s long term care facilities.

DESCRIPTION:As part of their milestone 20th Anniversary Season\, the Just in Time Choirs continue the celebration with their spring concert\, “Director’s Cut – 20th Anniversary Highlights.”\n\nBe a part of this commemorative musical extravaganza at the Sid Williams Theatre\, where there will be performances on Saturday April 25th in the evening and Sunday April 26th in the afternoon.\n\nFor two decades\, the Just in Time Choirs have been bringing community together through the power of song — sharing music\, connection\, and unforgettable performances. This special spring concert marks Part 2 of their anniversary concert series\, featuring personal favourites chosen by Musical Director\, Wendy Nixon Stothert.\n\nThe organization consists of three ensembles: Unplugged (everyone welcome)\, and the smaller auditioned groups\, the Jems (treble) and Vocal Minority (mixed). They will be joined by skilled musical collaborators: Sean Mooney on piano\, Beau Stocker on drums\, Steve Wallace on bass\, and Rachel Cooper on clarinet and sax.\n\nThese renowned contemporary choirs are known for their versatility; their performances cover a wide spectrum of musical styles from jazz\, ballads\, folk\, swing\, soul\, and contemporary pop to classic rock. Drawing from standout moments across the past twenty years\, Director’s Cut showcases songs that have shaped the choir’s musical journey — audience favourites\, meaningful repertoire\, and highlights that reflect the growth and spirit of the choir family.\n\nJust in Time’s founder and Music Director\, Wendy Nixon Stothert is excited to continue the celebration. “It has made me really happy to have a reason to dig into the archives and return to some of my favourite songs\, some from quite far back!” says Nixon Stothert. “Many of these songs are reminiscent of very special performance moments we’ve had over these past 20 years. For example\, I chose Stand By Me because I remember when 40 of us travelled to Cuba in 2014 and we sang it deep in a cave. Bumblebee is on the setlist because it reminds me of when my daughter sang the song with the Jems when she was 10 years old. Vocal Minority recorded a video version of Take On Me during the pandemic when we couldn’t sing in person together and singing it again now reminds me of the perseverance and dedication of the singers during those tough times. All of these magical moments\, and many more\, form a treasure trove that I love to reflect upon.”\n\nThe setlist also includes Coco Love Alcorn’s soulful “Revolution”\, jazz standard “Cheek to Cheek”\, an acapella version of Ah-Ha’s 80s hit “Take on Me”\, “Sir Duke” by the incomparable Stevie Wonder and “Sway” a la Michael Buble. To name just a few! The concert finale brings all three choirs together to perform Led Zeppelin’s epic classic “Stairway to Heaven” and\, fittingly\, the jazz standard “Just in Time”.\nThis concert caps a year-long celebration honouring 20 years of music and community. Join the Just in Time Choirs as they look back on cherished memories while celebrating the vibrant energy that continues to inspire singers and audiences alike.\n\nTickets are $33.40 (incl fees) for adults\, $15 for children 12 & under\, plus fees. Frith who has an illustrious career dating back to England in the 1970’s\, notably with Henry Cow\, Art Bears\, Skeleton Crew\, Massacre\, and countless more. His unique style has provided him the opportunity to play a veritable who’s who of innovative artists such as Brian Eno\, John Zorn/Naked City\, Mike Patton (Faith No More)\, the Residents\, Richard Thompson\, Bill Laswell\, KK Null\, Jad Fair\, Tom Cora\, Derek Bailey\, Sonny Sharrock\, Henry Kaiser\, Hans Reichel… This list could go on for pages… Frith provided iconic guitar work on two of Eno’s legendary records “Music for Films” and “Before and After Science”. \nUnderstatement: Fred Frith is a legend of improvised and experimental music\, and beyond being one of the world’s most iconic and most renowned avant garde guitar players\, he is a truly inspirational artist. While improvised music has been the common thread throughout his career Frith has actively engaged in theatre and dance work\, providing accompanying sounds. Frith has appeared on over 400 recordings and continues to actively tour. Leidecker is best known as a member of seminal experimental art band Negativland and part of Thurston Moore’s Ensemble. Moore is best known as the guitarist/leader of Sonic Youth. This special show is in celebration of Krug releasing his first solo album Same Fangs the very same day. First gaining attention in the mid 2000s as co-leader of Montreal’s rock’n’roll Wolf Parade\, then soon after as the voice and mind behind the chaotic Sunset Rubdown\, and equal member of indie supergroup Swan Lake (with Dan Bejar of Destroyer and Carey Mercer of Frog Eyes) Krug eventually used the now defunct Moonface as an outlet for his more experimental and sporadic solo material. And while he still plays with both \nWolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown\, there remains in him a need to express something less rock-oriented\, something quieter and more introverted. So\, returning to his first and favorite instrument\, the piano\, Krug has ventured back into his own fantastic world of pseudo-classical balladeering; poetic lyricism laced with twisted pop sensibility and jazz mimicry. Using this template\, he now releases solo work on his own label\, Pronounced Kroog\, and tours a variety of new and old material as Spencer Krug. \nAfter these solo shows\, Wolf Parade will be touring festivals and larger venues. There is substantial resurgence of interest since December\, when Wolf Parade’s song “I’ll Believe in Anything” (written by Spencer Krug) went viral for its use in an episode of the same name of the Crave TV hockey romance Heated Rivalry. The episode\, the fifth of season one of the series\, aired on December 19\, 2025\, and by December 27\, plays on Spotify increased by 2658%.
