Bring a little sunshine into your heart with the songs and rhythms of Cuba! On Sunday Nov. 6th, join Michel Rivero for a Cuban Music Workshop at Milo?s Place, 115 5th St., from 4-6pm. The cost is $25.
Michel has recently arrived in the Comox Valley from Cuba. As a graduate from the Art Instructor School in Havana, he plays both Latin percussion and guitar. For the last 10 years, Michel has been working as a teacher and performer for large and small ensembles, bands and choirs.
For the past 3 years, Michel has also worked with Vocal Clave de Sol, a community project that teaches youth the value of music through guitar, voice, and dance.
He has lead workshops and cultural exchanges where the kids present what they have learned to others in the community and in international cultural exchanges.
Since arriving in the Comox Valley Michel has been busy teaching a Latin percussion workshop, making a musical arrangement for the Just in Time Choirs and regularly teaching guitar.? He is happy to make the Comox Valley his new home and is enjoying getting involved in the rich musical community we have here.
