Church Music Leadership
Music in church has long been a part of my personal and family life.? My earliest performing experiences involved singing and playing guitar for my weekly youth group worship services.? As a young family, we participated in numerous musical performances at our church in Calgary.? More recently, I have led and played with contemporary music groups at several churches.? My main instrument is guitar, and I cover a wide variety of styles, which is useful when selecting music appropriate for the message of the particular service.? I work well with all levels of players, as I understand music theory very well, and use that knowledge to assign parts that are appropriate to the band members? skills and abilities.
Performing
My performing experience includes a wide variety of venues and formats, including multiple bands, solo gigs, and onstage theatrical work.? In a supporting function, I also have played guitar, bass, keyboards and percussion in the orchestra for theatrical productions.? These include Rent, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Reefer Madness, Dads ? The Musical, Once On This Island.
Additionally, I have sung in a capella groups, classical and contemporary choirs, and have acted in dramatic and musical theatre productions.
In short, I have a great amount of performing experience ? I know what it takes to be ready to present music, in terms of preparation, logistics, technical aspects, and actual performance.
