Strathcona Symphony Orchestra Presents Family Fun
March 10 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
$15 – $25What do movie sequels, Babe, The Mighty Ducks or Looney Tunes and Road Runner cartoons have in common? They all feature soundtracks from famous classical pieces such as Verdi’s Anvil Chorus, Offenbach’s Galop, Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries, or Rossini’s William Tell Overture.
The Strathcona Symphony Orchestra (SSO) members are eager to present Family Fun in March to audiences young at heart. Little ones and their families might get a chance to conduct the musicians or play an instrument (percussion anyone?) in a rousing selection of musical favourites as well as enjoy some fun musical antics.
SSO Music Director, Helena Jung, wants to inspire and entertain audiences with the gift of music drawn from cartoons to television shows and Hollywood movie blockbusters.
“From Bugs Bunny’s playful antics to Aladdin’s magic carpet ride, these memorable pieces will ignite the imagination of our audiences and hopefully win some hearts over to the joy of classical music,” Ms. Jung said.
Tickets for the SSO’s Family Fun can be purchased at https://strathcona-symphony-orchestra.tickit.ca/ or at the door, if available. Prices are $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 years and under. The SSO concerts have been selling out quickly and online ticket sales will be available mid-February.
Performances are on Saturday, March 9th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, March 10th at 2:00 pm. The concerts will be at the Florence Filberg Centre, 411 Anderton Avenue, Courtenay.
