Courtenay City Council Approves New Three-Year Fee for Service Agreement with CV/Arts
We’re excited to share that on September 9, 2026, Courtenay City Council approved a new three-year Fee for Service Agreement with CV/Arts. Once finalized, this renewed agreement will provide ongoing operating support for our work, giving us a stable foundation to keep delivering arts and culture programming for the community over the next three years.
This kind of sustained investment matters. Operating support lets us plan ahead, maintain the programs our community relies on, and continue building on the relationships we’ve developed with local artists and community partners — rather than reinventing our work year to year.
On top of the renewed agreement, Council also approved a one-time grant to support our Incubator Microgrant Program, with funding directed toward a round of microgrants in summer 2027. This program helps emerging and independent artists get projects off the ground, often with just a small amount of seed funding.
We’ve seen firsthand what that kind of support can do. Charlie Karumi, producer of the community podcast More of That, Please!, used a CV Arts microgrant to launch their first season — and went on to secure a TELUS STORYHIVE grant to keep it going. “We genuinely wouldn’t be here without that first round of support from CV Arts,” Charlie says.
We’re grateful to Courtenay City Council for recognizing the value of both steady operating support and grassroots arts funding, and for continuing to invest in the artists and organizations that make our community’s creative life so rich.
