Shared Wisdom (SOLD OUT)
An Intercultural Storytelling Experience
July 7 @ 11:00 am – 2:00 pm
A community inquiry exploring stories to live by.
Guided by Chief Wedlidi Speck and Kester Reid of Fianna Wilderness School, this gathering will celebrate connections between Salish-Kwakwaka’wakw and Irish-Scottish traditions.
Detailed description: This circle will explore stories from two old traditions – the local Salish-Kwakwaka’wakw, and the Irish/Scottish tradition of settler lineages. As a community we will explore the cultural understandings carried by the stories, offering us insight into important questions of belonging, community, reciprocity and reconciliation. Participants will be invited to share their voice, and their perspective, as we inquire not only with the stories, but also with the land around us and the ways in which it participates in the old teachings of story.
.
Chief Wedlidi Speck and Kester Reid will share the stories and facilitate discussion. This is an intercultural event that values diverse perspectives and decolonizing inquiry. Bring your curiosity and an open heart, and please plan to stay for the duration of the event.
This is an intergenerational event, and all ages are welcome, including children/youth that are able to participate for the duration (aged 7+).
