Summer PULSE Brings Art to the Heart of Downtown

Thank you to everyone who joined us in the heart of Courtenay on Friday the 26th for the first ever PULSE ON THE PLAZA!

The community spirit created last Friday was inspiring and heartwarming. From the bustling energy on Duncan Avenue, to the echoes of laughter and music, we witnessed the coming together of art, music, dance, and togetherness that makes our community so unique. ๐Ÿ’“ This series is a collaboration between those passionate about activating Duncan Avenue, transforming it into a vibrant space for art, music, dance, and community. A heartfelt thank you to our co-organizers: Comox Valley Art Gallery, Elevate and Downtown Courtenay. We also extend our gratitude to our community partners: Lush Valley Food Action Society, Queer Culture, Comox Valley Pride, and CVOX: locally grown radio in the Comox Valley.

Big ‘woot woots’ to Cassidy Gehmlich for emceeing and to Oktiv6, Wendy Nixon Stothert’s Pop-Up Choir, Space Junk Removal Service and the Butter Finger Bombsquad for providing the music this time! Beverages were provided thanks to Cumberland Brewing Company, raising funds for the Cumberland Forest Stewardship Society. High fives to the CV/Arts Incubator Microgrant recipients, Wendy Nixon Stothert (Pop-Up Choir) and Kelly Broza (Draw Together Strangers) for bringing participatory artmaking to the Plaza and the Comox Valley Capoeira team for busting some incredible moves. And of course a big thank you to Andy MacDougall and Wachiay Studio for sharing your printmaking genius with us.

We hope to see you at the next Pulse on the Plaza event on Friday, August 23 โ€“ PRIDE edition! ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ
