Program Assistant (Summer Student or Youth Position)
Comox Valley Arts is hiring a Program Assistant for a summer student role funded through Canada Summer Jobs. Employment duration will depend on funding agreements and may be between 8 and 16 weeks.
Compensation and hours
- $20.00 per hour
- 30–40 hours per week (schedule and exact hours to be confirmed)
Eligibility
- Ages 15–30
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee status in Canada
- Legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid SIN
- Some positions may require current student status (high school, college, or university)
Role overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Assistant will support day-to-day arts council operations and help deliver summer initiatives. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with planning and delivery of summer events and programs (e.g., Pulse on the Plaza, summer art camps)
- Supporting teaching artists and event coordinators
- Documenting programs and events through photography and/or video
- Assisting with program and office administration
Preferred qualifications
- Studying or experienced in fine arts, arts education, arts administration, cultural management, communications, graphic design, visitor services, or a related field
- Strong interest in the arts and community engagement
- Good customer service skills and a positive, collaborative attitude
- Proficient with common office software (e.g., MS Office)
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
Other requirements
- A criminal record check is required for roles that involve working with children.
